Goose Island Bourbon County '09

This came in late last week but I've been incredibly busy and blog neglect has set in. This is a very unique offering from the Goose Island guys. Brewed to mark the completion of 1000 batches of beer. Aged for 150 days in Bourbon Barrel. This imperial stout is described as 'The Cigar Beer'. I'm not a Montecristo smoker but I'll definitely give it a go with a Marlboro Light.

Limited stock, Available now...

Paulaner Hefe-Weisbier Dunkel

Along with authentic bad German music, food, steins and Oktoberfest barmaids, Heineken Ireland shipped in the Paulaner Hefe-Weisbier Dunkel for the Oktoberfest in the IFSC. Fortunately for Deveney's, the left over stock was sold to us at a reasonable price thus allowing us to sell it to you at €1.99 a bottle!!!!!!!!
Get in quick,

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale.

I really started this week on a bad footing, my form was pretty horrendous and I felt about as festive as the remains of last years Christmas tree. I had a party to rectify the Scrooge Syndrome. Mince pies, a bit of Chris De Burgh, cheese, wine, Christmas beers and liqueurs.
The Sierra Celebration Ale is the pyjama beer I've been looking for...... Ideal for lounging with the Goonies and a ham and mustard sandwich. The nose is ripe fruit - peaches and melon with a little bit of cinnamon. The palate is hop, spice, fruit and very slightly piney. A touch of sweetness on the finish and really easy drinking.
Roll on the 25th, bed wear and a couple of cold Sierra Celebrations teemed with some turkey sandwiches and 'The Muppet Christmas Carol'. This has definitely made it into my top 10 Christmas drinks for Dec '09.

Anchor Christmas Ale 2009

Drinking a 355ml of Anchor Christmas ale is something similar to inhaling Santa's Grotto.
This is one of the most pleasantly interesting bottles of beer and I'm all about strange.
When you clip the crown cap the nose exudes Christmas tree aromas, cloves, mocha and cinnamon. The palate is almost identical to the nose. Coffee, spice and conifer. A dark wintry looking ale. Stout colour with a slightly red hue.
Really good with spiced beef or as an alternative to mulled wine.
It has since joined my list of festive favourites, it's up there with Mariah Carey's 'All I want for Christmas' and 'My fair lady'........
